Vernacular: Beaded Chestnut

Account: Common in broad-leaved woodland, scrub, hedgerows, grassland, heathland and gardens throughout England, Wales and southern Scotland, a species of conservation concern under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. Most likely confusion species is Brown-spot Pinion A. litura, but reniform stigma narrower, and orbicular stigma smaller and elongated. Larva feeds on Hawthorn.
