Vernacular: Lesser Tawny Crescent

Account: Common in woodland, plantations, parklands and urban areas throughout much of England and Wales. Most likely to be confused with B. lambdella, which is mainly restricted to the coast, and B. internella, which is very restricted in its range; see these species accounts for details. Larva feeds on lichens growing on trees, fence posts, and in rotten wood under the bark.
