Superficially resembles a number of other Nepticulidae, but combination of orange head, dark copper-coloured collar, white-tipped, fuscous antennae, pale yellow eyecaps, and shining coppery purple forewing with yellowish spots on costa and dorsum beyond middle, is diagnostic (MBGBI Vol 1). Day-flying. Larva mines buds of Alder.
