Vernacular: Pine Resin Moth

Account: Nationally scarce (Nb) in pine woodland and on heathland in parts of eastern England and southern Scotland Differs from C. coniferana and C. conicolana by the narrow but conspicuous transverse band of ground colour each side of the median fascia of the forewing and the distinct, white costal interspaces [Bradley]. Day-flying; most active in hot sunshine at midday and in the afternoon. Larva feeds within damaged bark of Scots Pine, subsequently feeding on resin.
