Account: Common in rough ground and flower meadows throughout much of the British Isles Differs from E. hohenwartiana by the paler ground colour of the forewing and the distinctive longitudinal striation in the discal area [Bradley]. Larva feeds within flowerheads of Thistle Carduus/Cirsium and Common Knapweed.
