Vernacular: Narrow-winged Pug

Account: Common on heathland, moorland and downland, and in gardens throughout the British Isles One of the more easily recognisable pugs, with sharply angled cross-lines, and unique resting posture, often with hindwings concealed by forewings. Larva feeds on the flowers of various species of Heather, over-wintering as a pupa.
