Vernacular: Beech Leaf-miner

Account: Common in deciduous woodland throughout the British Isles. More frequently recorded in the larval stage, when the mines are often easy to find in suitable habitat; the imago can be separated from other similar Phyllonorycter species only by dissection of the genitalia. Larva mines leaves of Beech, over-wintering as a pupa in a cocoon.
