Vernacular: Buckthorn Bud-borer

Account: Nationally scarce (Na) in woodland edges and hedgerows in parts of south-eastern England, with records north to Cumbria; rare in Ireland Can only be separated from S. rhamniella and S. janiszewskae by dissection of the genitalia. Larva feeds on buds and leaves of Buckthorn and Alder Buckthorn, living between leaves spun together with silk.
