Vernacular: Powdered Grass-moth

Account: Nationally scarce (Nb) in dry sandy areas, calcareous grassland, sand-dunes and sea cliffs in parts of southern England and Breckland An unmistakable species: the Chrysocrambus species have wings of similar shape but with fine dark longitudinal striae and sharply defined, narrow median and subterminal cross-lines [Goater]. Larva feeds on stems of Sheep's-fescue and various grasses, living within a silken tube or tent.
